Location sharing is optional and can be disabled entirely or limited to trusted channels. By default in Meshtastic, GPS and other telemetry is automatically broadcast on the primary channel (CapitalMesh), which is visible to all nodes configured with the exact channel name and shared key. The secondary channel (LongFast) β€” used for broader public coordination β€” does not broadcast location unless explicitly enabled. This allows users to participate in wider mesh activity without revealing their position to all users.

For sensitive deployments, consider disabling GPS and using encrypted messages. If location sharing is enabled, the tracker will still transmit its position on the primary channel (CapitalMesh), but it will not relay incoming traffic.
